So, you find yourself in a tough spot right now. It isn’t your fault; it wasn’t your choice to be here. What do you do now?

Below is a story from the book of Esther (this is just a highlight. I encourage you to read the whole book—it’s not long):

Esther was a young Jewish woman who lived in the kingdom of Persia. The King needed a wife. So, he had his agents search out the beautiful single women of his country and bring them to his palace. Esther didn’t want to be there; it was not her choice. However, Esther pleased him, and he made her his queen.

The King had a wicked prime minister named Haman. Haman convinced the King that the Jewish people were plotting against him and had the King sign a decree that all Jews should be killed. The plot thickens!

Esther was raised by her older cousin, Mordecai. Mordecai became aware of this decree to kill the Jewish people and went to Esther and told her that she must plead with the King to spare their people. Esther was scared, for the law forbid anyone, including the Queen, from entering the throne room of the King uninvited—it could mean her death.

“… who can say but that God has brought you into the palace for just such a time as this?” Then Esther told Mordecai, “Go and gather together all the Jews of Shushan and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day, and I and my maids will do the same; and then, though it is strictly forbidden, I will go in to see the king; and if I perish, I perish.”
Esther 4:14–16

What did Esther do? She fasted and asked support from others to strengthen her will. You, too, were brought into this place for just such a time as this! Look around: God has a plan specifically for you. You may know it already, or you may not. But He has a plan for you, for your good. Look to God, and ask Him to guide you for His purpose.

So today, let’s give thanks to the Lord for placing us right where we are, in the exact circumstances that we are in, because it is from here that the Lord will use us for His Purpose, for His glory. He has chosen each of us. While we do not understand why, we pray for the strength and courage to give God permission to do with us as He wishes—for His glory. We pray to the Lord to give strength to each of us today and every day so we have no fear of what is to come.

Have a powerful day.

—Tim
