Back in the day, when I was in school, the words, “It’s an open-book test,” were music to my ears. All I had to do was really understand the book, and then when the question came, I could look up the answer. Simple enough. I am discovering that maybe how we deal with life is like an open-book test as well: so many challenges, so many obstacles, so many curveballs to deal with—how do we answer all the questions in life?

When I am trying to handle one trial, but two or three new ones come flying my way, I have a tendency to flee! I want to curl up inside myself and wait for the storm to be over, but if I do nothing and just hide, the problem remains. In fact, it seems bigger than before. However, I have come to the realization that life is like an open-book test… and I am finally starting to understand how to use the book! I can stand up against the storm. We can be bold in the face of the storm!

So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.
2 Corinthians 4:18

So today, Lord, we thank You for calling this life an open-book test, and we thank You for providing the Book with the answers. While the questions and trials and storms of life can be overwhelming, we know that You have us covered and protected. We pray for the patience to stay focused and the strength to be bold in the storm.

Have a Great Day.

—Tim
